LG Health and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia expanded their partnership that brings nationally recognized pediatric care to the region, and set the stage for a major enhancement for care in 2018.

CHOP physicians and LG Health pediatricians work together to deliver unmatched medical excellence at Lancaster General Hospital’s Pediatric Unit and Emergency Department, and Women & Babies Hospital’s 29-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

CHOP’s team of nationally recognized experts – consistently named in U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals list – brings the highest level of pediatric specialty care to local children and families. Specialists in cardiology, endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, neurology and pulmonology see patients at the Suburban Pavilion.

Children who need more intensive treatment have access to CHOP’s main hospital in Philadelphia, one of the top-ranked in the nation.

No different than any other kid
Meet 8-year-old Mason, an avid golfer and football player who just happens to have type 1 diabetes. Mason’s family is grateful for LG Health’s partnership with CHOP, which helps him get world-class care close to home.

Special delivery
Nathan and Doriana Musselman were stunned when a routine prenatal exam revealed a serious heart defect in their unborn son. Little Emmett had open-heart surgery just hours after his birth at CHOP. Today the active toddler is doing great and receiving ongoing care with CHOP specialists near his family’s home in Lancaster.

Future plans for the partnership include a new Pediatric Inpatient Center inside LGH’s Frederick Building. In addition, a new Child Life program will provide trained therapists who help children cope with the stress and uncertainty of life changing events during hospital stays.

National Recognition

CHOP earned second place on the 2017-18 U.S. News & World Report's Honor Roll of Best Children’s Hospitals, with nine clinical programs ranked in the top three nationally. It is the only pediatric hospital in the region named to the prestigious list.
